How We Are Funded
The SCF receives no government funding. To fund our operation we use a combination of an endowed operating fund and a small charge assesed annually against each endowed fund for administrative purposes. Every dollar is carefully accounted for so as to maximize return to the community. Copies of our audited financial statements are available to any member of the community upon request.
Our overall stewardship objective is to maintain the purchasing power of dollars and the funds entrusted to us. The SCF invests its assets carefully and works to preserve the capital using only the gains to fund projects and programmes. Donors to our funds can be certain that the principal will not be spent and that it will be invested to provide a source of lasting support for the causes they care about.
The SCF works with all individuals, groups of people, charities, and companies who wish to leave a lasting legacy in the community. No gift is too small to make a difference for ever.
Each fund agreement is unique and reflects the interests of the donor. There is no charge for consultation and advice on making a gift that will benefit the community in perpetuity.
We are able to accept a wide range of charitable gifts. Gifts to Foundation funds can be made through many channels including credit cards and transfers of stock. Please contact the office for more information on the options for giving. In some instances the SCF may be able to accept gifts in kind, subject to CRA rulings related to such gifts. As the beneficiary of this type of gift in the past, the SCF has been able to keep the office functioning without diverting operating funds to furniture and office equipment
