Building Community - What We Do

A vibrant, inclusive, livable Lambton County

That's the vision of SCF. We want to create a place of belonging where people and ideas flourish.

To do that  we  work with individuals, groups of people, charities, and companies who have an interest in making the community a better place to live, work and play.

all community all the time

We work with donors to establish and maintain permanent gift funds. Each fund  at SCF is unique and reflects the interests of the individuals, company or agency who have chosen to make a lasting difference in our community  These funds are  invested and the income we earn on the investment is used to make grants, provide scholarships or to initiate a community programme. From time to time we also are involved with short term projects that will benefit the community by building funds for specific projects and new programmes for the community. It could be a building like the Dow Centre for Youth, a project like One Tomato or even a rebuild of an older building like the Sarnia Arena. IF there's a charitable need ... we have a way to make that benefit the community for good ...forever!

We make grants to projects and programmes of registered charities and other eligible recipients. Grants are made on an annual basis through our Community Impact Program or through our donor advised funds. Details on our grants  and the application  process for any year can be found on the Impact page or by calling the SCF office.

We support leadership initiatives in the community by providing a platform for emerging ideas, assisting community agencies with expertise in finance and  policy development  while promoting the not for profit or social impact sector. We aim to respond to community issues and needs now and in the future.

Since our first day of operation in 1983 we have made an impact on over 135 local organizations and thousands of people in the community. We've returned over 4 million dollars through grants and projects throughout Lambton County.
