How We Build Community
Beginning with the first grants in 1985 the Sarnia Community Foundation has sought to serve the community by granting to the projects and programmes the community cares about. We have made an impact on education, on children and youth, on social services, on arts and culture, on seniors, on healthcare and on the environment through our community grants programme.
From the grants programme inception in 1985 to Dec. 31, 2002 grants to local charities totaled $226,904. From January of 2003 to Oct. 31, 2007 grants to local charities totaled $226,664
In 2007 the Foundation granted or disbursed on behalf of donors more than $65,000. Six charities were impacted through the community grants program. In 2008 the Foundation granted or disbursed on behalf of donors more than $95,000. Eleven charities were impacted through the community grants programme. Over 1/2 of a million dollars has been reinvested in the community since 1983. More than 100 charitable organizations serving the community of Sarnia Lambton have received grants since 1983.
