2009 Community Grants
Community Fund Grants for the 2009 Year
The Foundation accepts grant applications once per calendar year. A Volunteer Grants committee reviews all applications and makes recommendations to the Foundation Board for full or partial funding depending on fund availability, the number of people served and the project.
- ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Society of Ontario) - For an equipment loan program for families living with ALS in Sarnia Lambton $3000.00
- Autism Ontario Sarnia Lambton - For the purchase of portable sensory equipment $1100.00
- Canadian National Institute for the Blind - To run 2 eight week peer support groups for seniors with vision loss $ 1450.00
- Learning Disabilities Association of Lambton County - For purchase of resource materials for volunteer tutor programme. $ 2500.00
- Navy League of Ontario- Sarnia Branch - Swimming lessons for cadets at the bronze medallion level $1500.00
- Neighbourhood Link Sarnia Lambton - Provision of cribs and mattresses to low income families and families in transition $3500.00
- North Lambton Community Health Centre- Let’s Get Together is a free physical activity programme for children 8-13 in three rural communities $2500.00
- St. Clair Child and Youth Services - To provide First Aid Training for parents in low income/high risk settings $3000.00
- St Joseph Hospice – Caring Hearts Programme - Year 2 of a 5 year commitment to provide bereavement programmes for children $2000.00
- YMCA Sarnia Lambton- Programme subsidy for Youth Recreation and Sports Program $ 3000.00
TOTAL $23,550.00
Additional funds were disbursed for the Dow Centre For Youthand the One Tomato projects.
Donor Advised Funds Grants to Sept. 15th, 2009
Donors who have created advised or designated funds with the Foundation direct the income from their funds to local charities once per calendar year. To date donors have directed grants to:
The Inn of the Good Shepherd, Women’s Interval Home, Lawrence House Centre for the Arts, Lambton Right to Life, Lambton Christian School Society, International Symphony Orchestra & Big Sisters of Sarnia Lambton

Scholarship Funds
The Foundation is pleased to hold funds for the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce Anniversary Scholarships and the Moffat Family. The Chamber Scholarships are directed to medical students intending to practice family medicine in Sarnia Lambton. The Moffat Scholarship is awarded to a student who has faced significant medical challenges and who will be attending university.
