A vibrant, inclusive, livable Lambton County!
That’s the vision of the SCF. We want to create a place of belonging where people and ideas flourish.
We work with donors to grow and manage permanent and short term funds. Each fund at the SCF is unique and reflects the interests of the individual(s), company or agency who has chosen to make a lasting difference in our community.
We make grants to projects and programmes managed by organizations dedicated to making the community a better place. We support arts, culture & heritage, community well being, children, youth & families, environment & animal welfare, health, wellness & recreation, and literacy, education & employment.
We support leadership initiatives in the community by providing a platform for emerging ideas, assisting community agencies with expertise in finance and policy development while promoting the not for profit or social impact sector. We aim to respond to community issues and needs now and in the future.
Since our first day of operation in 1983 we have made an impact on over 150 local organizations and thousands of people in the community. We’ve returned more than five million dollars through grants, scholarships and projects to our community.
We are a public foundation with a mandate to act for the benefit of the community. We manage our resources and invest our assets carefully with the goal of returning funds to the community annually, while preserving the gifts given to us so that they will return value to the community for generations to come.
Our policies and financial statements are available to the community and can be obtained by downloading documents from our site or by calling the Foundation office. You can also view our annual report to the Canada Revenue Agency. SCF does not use third party professional fundraisers and we respect our donors’ wishes regarding the publication of names and the collection of personal information. We do not sell, trade or lease our donor lists.
Since 2013, SCF has been accredited by Imagine Canada. This accreditation requires us to meet or exceed 73 standards in Governance, Fund Raising, Staff Management, Financial Accountability & Transparency and Volunteer Involvement. We have demonstrated compliance with the standards on a consistent basis since our original application and are proud to display the Imagine Canada trust mark.
SCF is a member of the Community Foundations of Canada network and strives to meet the objectives of all CF’s across the country and around the world. To learn more about the work on Canada’s Community Foundations please visit http://communityfoundations.ca/
