SCF works with donors to meet community needs through a combination of permanent and flow-through funds — choose an existing fund closest to your heart, or start one of your own.
How it works
Donors can give any amount to an existing fund at SCF, or work with us to establish a new fund of their own — permanent endowments that grow over time, or flow-through funds put to work right away.
Whichever path you choose, our role stays the same: we act as trusted stewards of the fund, providing prudent investment management, donor relations, and grant-making expertise so your generosity keeps making a difference for years to come.
Fund types
From modest annual gifts to full endowments, here are the ways individuals, families, charities, and municipalities partner with SCF.
Established in 1983, this is the primary source of funds for our annual community grants. Most gifts are modest, pooled together for broad local impact.

View funds →Earnings are directed to a named charity, cause, or scholarship of your choosing. A minimum donation level applies.
View funds →Charitable organizations establish their own endowment with SCF as trusted steward — we handle investment and donor relations so they don't have to.
View funds →Held for specific, time-limited projects and programmes in the community, rather than as a permanent endowment.
View funds →A municipality or town partners with SCF to begin its own Community Fund. We manage the assets; local decisions on grants stay in local hands.

Donors who plan to leave a portion of their estate to the causes that inspired them during their lifetime become part of The Lambton Circle (TLC). It doesn't take a lot of money to join — just a little planning. SCF helps individuals, families, and their advisors make a gift that will really last forever.
